The "Greatest Snow on Earth"
Fourteen hundred miles on the road and 24 hours of travel time over New Years to be disappointed to find not one flake of snow the... and we could have just found a bit of the white powdery stuff in our own backyard.
Well, not literally. We have yet to see that, though we've heard it's happened. Flagstaff is a good two hour drive from Phoenix, but in comparison to our haul to Salt Lake City we found it to be just a slight turn in the neighborhood.
So we did get our snow fix after all... the snowmen, the sledding, the snowballs, the SUV test-drive in the snow. The downside was that every other Phoenician was enjoying Flagstaff's record snowfall as well, forcing Braden and Ryan to abandon the idea of hitting the slopes.
So while it might not have been the "Greatest Snow on Earth" and it didn't come with an entourage of family, we certainly thought it was a pretty good day and with just a turn in the neighborhood found ourselves hitting golf balls the very next day. That's got to count for something!
